Our research examines human behaviour and the mental processes that underpin it, ranging from the functioning of the brain to relationships between individuals, groups, work teams and Communities.
We are interested in both everyday and critical situations, and in particular in the way in which new technologies and social transformations are reshaping people’s identities, boundaries and possibilities in learning, development, work, relationships and self-care.
Psychology now plays a central role in these changes, and our Research aims to help shape them, not just understand them.
In this section, our research is presented at various levels. The eight Research Areas provide an initial overview, designed to be accessible even to those unfamiliar with psychology. Within these areas, research groups delve into specific research themes, whilst Laboratories and Research Centres carry out experimental studies and activities involving participants. The project pages detail the most recent findings.
The research groups
The research is carried out by over thirty groups, which form a single scientific community spanning Bologna and Cesena, adhering to rigorous methodological standards and ethical principles, and in collaboration with universities, services and organisations in Italy and abroad.
