What is a Department of Excellence?

The Departments of Excellence are identified and funded by the MUR every five years as the top 180 Departments in state universities. These are Departments that stand out for the quality of their research and the excellence of their development projects.

Theoretical Models of Behaviours Explanation and Psychological Intervention Models: The Excellence of the Department of Psychology “Renzo Canestrari” in 2023-2027

In continuity with the excellence project obtained in the first edition (2018-2022), the Department of Psychology “Renzo Canestrari” aims to further enhance the quality of research, teaching, and its third mission. The Department will focus on two thematic areas:
1. Theoretical models of behaviour explanation in critical and emergency situations (e.g., pandemic conditions, war threats, risk of poverty).
2. Psychological intervention models that are flexible, sustainable, and adaptable to different contexts and life stages, aimed at promoting adaptive methods in both standard and critical/emergency situations.
 
Scientific contributions to these thematic areas will go hand-in-hand with achieving quality and socioeconomic impact objectives, supported by recruitment policies, departmental co-financing of roles, acquisition of infrastructure, and highly qualified educational activities. Internationalization efforts will further elevate the scientific and educational quality of the Department's degree programmes.
